- Consciousness (Pure, Permanent, Non-Physical) β is the unchanging, eternal awareness. It simply is. Itβs not made of thought, emotion, or material β itβs the very capacity by which all things are known. In Advaita Vedanta, this would be called the Atman or Self, which is ultimately identical with Brahman, the Absolute Reality.
- Mind (Impure, Impermanent, Non-Physical) β consists of thoughts, emotions, perceptions, memories, desires β all of which are subtle (non-physical) but changing. The mind is not as real as consciousness itself; it borrows its light from pure awareness but is always in flux.
- Body (Impure, Impermanent, Physical) β is the gross (physical) form, made up of matter, subject to birth, aging, death. Itβs even more dense and changing than the mind, and like the mind, it has no independent existence without consciousness illuminating it.
Reality and illusion (Maya) in layers β with Consciousness as the only true, stable ground, and mind-body as projections or temporary appearances within it.
Short summary:
β’ Consciousness = Pure Existence, Pure Awareness (unchanging).
β’ Mind = Subtle illusion (thoughts, emotions).
β’ Body = Gross illusion (physical form).
